| Hey guys, it's Hurricane (AKA Tyler), subbing for Aklys on a Tech Time article. So, today, I thought that I'll focus on not one, but three fabulous cards to tech into your decks. One monster, one spell, and one trap. Please note that these cards are simply splashable, they aren't going to be able to be used in EVERY deck, just a lot of them. Number 50: Blackship Of Corn This card is just too good. It's a basic Rank 4 XYZ monster that can fit into just about any deck. It has only been released in promotional sets for the TCG, and therefore isn't easily available in real life. It's summoning conditions are relatively simple, just overlay two Level 4 Monsters and BAM, instant exceed. Now, the best thing about the card is the loophole in its effect. It reads, "Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls with ATK less than or equal to this card's; send it to the Graveyard, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. This card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect". The loophole in it is that it says that you send the targeted card to the Graveyard, not destroy it. So, if your opponent has a Zenmaines out on the field, it can go F*** itself because it isn't getting destroyed. Same goes for Stardust Dragon, and just about any card the requires it to be DESTROYED. Blackship can also do decent burn damage to your opponent. Say they're lying back on a Marshmallon, you get rid of any wall or stall they put up and inflict 1000 LP of damage to them. The only drawback to its effect is that it only works on Monsters with ATK equal to or less than its own. I'll link a page of its rulings so that you can be more familiarized with it. http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Card_Rulings:Number_50:_Blackship_of_CornForbidden Lance This is one of the best multipurpose cards in the game. Forbidden Lance can be activated on both your opponent's turn AND your own, giving you an ATK advantage over your opponent's monster during the Damage Step, where they least expect a card to be activated. It also has a great secondary use. Say you Summon a Rescue Rabbit, and your opponent responds with a Torrential Tribute. Due to Forbidden Lance being a Spell Speed 2, you can chain it to their Torrential. They lose all of their Monsters, while you can still maintain the ability to go into Evolzar Laggia or Evilswarm Ophion. This works the same way with any card that could destroy your Monsters, so long as that card isn't a Counter Trap or can't be chained to (fak yu supra-poly). This card, as with all the other "Forbidden" cards has many uses in the meta, but isn't seen as often as it should be. Decks that this card would work well in are any decks that may rely on the summon or maintaining one specific monster (e.g. Dino Rabbits, Evilswarm, etc.). Once again, I'm linking the rulings for this card so that no one will play it incorrectly. http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Card_Rulings:Forbidden_LanceChain Disappearance The last tech card for today is Chain Disappearance, and may I say, it's too good against the meta. This card reads, " When a monster(s) with 1000 or less ATK is Summoned: Banish that monster(s) with 1000 or less ATK, then your opponent banishes all cards with the same name as that card(s) from their hand and Deck". To show its usefulness, let's mess with Dino Rabbits again. If your opponent summons their Rescue Rabbit while you have this set, not only do they lose their Rabbit they summoned, but all others in their deck as well. Then they go, "Oh S*** my Rabbit. It's cool I'll just go with TGU and take it back". Well opponent, F*** you and all of your Tour Guides, BAM Chain Disappearance again! Another way this card can be useful is in Mirror Matches. You can summon out your own Rabbit, Tour Guide, Veiler, Maxx "C", or any other card you know your opponent has, then use Chain Disappearance on it. Guess what? Your opponent loses ALL of theirs. This can also be used in response to Flip Summons. Aaaand, the rulings. http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Card_Rulings:Chain_Disappearance I hope you guys liked the article, and Aklys should be doing the next one relatively soon. Until Then, Hurricane | |
